Out of Nowhere is a high-energy dance band of covers and originals with influences that span Swing, Jazz, Funk, R&B, Rock and Blues. Together 5 yearsthe band’s goal has always been sculpting a show to make people feel good and move. Audiences find it impossible to remain seated once the band starts playing.
 We generally play the third Saturday of every month at the Taos Inn, but please check back for any date changes.

Out of Nowhere is

  • Beth Searcey,  lead vocals; 
  • Elaine Nelson, saxophones, accordion and keyboard;
  • Chris Burton, electric guitar and backup vocals;
  • Suzanne Birrell, electric bass and backup vocals;
  • Bob Lennon on Drums

 Elaine provides the band with the horn-based sound, playing both alto and soprano sax. Her performances at wide-reaching venues on the local scene have brought her well-deserved attention and praise.

Chris brings fresh energy to the group and consummate guitar playing.  He has played with numerous Taos bands and has years of experience.

Suzanne holds the band together on bass while adding some back up harmonies. She plays many instruments including Stand  Up Acoustic Bass, Guitar and Ukulele.  She has played coast to coast in all styles and venues as well as recording and teaching.

Bob has lived in Santa Fe for about 15 years but honed his craft in the bars, clubs and catering halls of Baltimore, Maryland.  As a child he played accordion, but switched to drum set. His favorite drummer are Airto, Gurtu, Elvin and Zakir.

Our diverse repertoire includes tunes such as Rock Steady, Somethings Got A Hold on Me,That Man, Zoot Suit Riot, Jump, Jive and Wail, Chain of Fools, Burnin Down the House, I Wish, Love and Happiness, I Can’t Wait and R & B standards and a slue of other compelling dance songs. Wherever we’re playing, look forward to a soundtrack that will keep your groove on!
